MACKENZIE-CHILDS BRINGS SPRING TO MARKET
Spring Collection 2010: Home Furnishings Design Company MacKenzie-Childs Launches Three New Creative Spring Collections; Flower Market Enamelware; Trapeze Ceramic Dinnerware; Courtly Campaign Furniture
Aurora, NY (January 29, 2010) – This spring, American home furnishings company, MacKenzie-Childs, is launching the most broad and creative collection in its twenty-seven year history. On February 1st nationwide, consumers will be able to purchase from three new unique lines: Flower Market Enamelware, Trapeze Ceramic Dinnerware and Courtly Campaign Furniture, and additional tabletop and furniture designs. The spring products and designs, inspired by Creative Director Rebecca Proctor, celebrate color, individuality and craftsmanship – all hallmarks of the MacKenzie-Childs brand.
The new designs are brought to life by the more than 100 artisans who create the beautiful pieces at the quaint Victorian dairy farm in New York’s Finger Lakes, home to MacKenzie-Childs’ studios. From plates to planters, teapots to tureens, MacKenzie-Childs handmade majolica is hand-decorated with great care and furniture is crafted with attention to every detail. Each ceramic piece carries a studio mark and date of manufacture, along with the artisans’ stamps, exhibiting the pride they take in their craft.
“The 2010 Spring Collection is fresh, bold and uniquely MacKenzie-Childs” said Proctor. “We are constantly challenging ourselves to excite our customers with new designs and pieces that truly differentiate their homes.”
The company is particularly proud this spring to launch Flower Market Enamelware, delivering a bit of spring into consumers’ homes with a bold floral pattern, bursting with rich color. It’s a perfect complement to the signature Courtly Check pattern, enabling consumers to mix and match the pieces to create a uniquely MacKenzie-Childs table.
In addition to the Flower Market launch, Trapeze Dinnerware represents a graceful new collection of ceramic silhouettes made in Aurora, New York, each molded in tall relief, fired four times and hand-painted with platinum, copper and/or gold luster. And, of course, MacKenzie-Childs isn’t limited to just tableware. Accessories and home furnishings are needed to complete the look. The new Courtly Campaign Collection features a Trunk, End Table, Serving Cart, Hamper and Stationery Boxes. Each piece is constructed of rattan woven from bamboo, trimmed in leather and accented with hand-painted Courtly Check enamelware and ceramic details. These furnishings, individually-crafted, beautifully accent any room.
The spring collection clearly showcases MacKenzie-Childs’ ability to extend its line, while staying true to the design that has always defined its brand, delighting consumers worldwide.
Here are the highlights of the three new offerings:
TABLETOP
Flower Market Enamelware: Set a sunny table resembling an English garden with six dinnerware silhouettes. Featured in four luscious background colors: green, black, blue and white -- each plate has a heavy steel underbody with enamel coating and floral transfers. Large flower art explodes on both the front and underside of every piece, so that turning over the plates and bowls reveals a secret garden of hand-applied floral designs. To frame the beautiful floral motif, the pieces are rimmed in bronzed stainless steel where possible, making them truly outstanding. Avaible in March will be additional silhouettes and serving pieces in four colors.
Always inspiring, MacKenzie-Childs Flower Market is perfect for dining indoors or in the garden. Choose a single color for the entire table or mix the blue, green, white and black pieces for an eye-catching presentation. In the spirit of MacKenzie-Childs, keep going and layer it all together with Courtly Check enamelware. Prices range from $32 to $68.
Trapeze Collection: Handmade in the MacKenzie-Childs studio in Aurora, New York, each piece of this graceful dinnerware features an elegant design with rich colors. Each silhouette is molded in tall relief, fired four times and handpainted with platinum, copper and/or gold lustres. Incredible artistry defines these handmade collector pieces. Five silhouettes are availablePrices range from $95 to $150 and pieces may vary due to the handmade nature of each product. .
FURNITURE AND HOME FURNISHINGS
Courtly Campaign Collection: Handsome, refined and ever so MacKenzie-Childs. An inviting collection that feels like a weekend getaway. Each piece of the Courtly Campaign Collection is handcrafted from a rich combination of rattan, leather and brass details, Courtly Check enamel and ceramic embellishments. There are three distinct pieces in this line: a Trunk, an End Table, a Serving Cart, and a Hamper. Furniture prices range from $875 to $2950.
The collection’s Trunk offers versatility and beauty in a style suited for expedition anywhere. The combination of rattan, Courtly Check enamelware, leather accents and brass detailing are an elegant addition to any home. The Trunk is made with a dark hardwood frame, richly stained natural fibers, brass hardware and corners, handpainted ceramic feet and is lined in classic canvas. It’s the perfect coffee table or accent at the end of a bed.
The End Table is made in two distinct pieces. A storage box, equipped with a small key, sits atop a hardwood base. Remove the box and carry it off to a countryside picnic and leave behind the hardwood base to serve as a petite side table. The tabletop reveals a pattern of fresh-cut cedar florettes harvested from the MacKenzie-Childs farm.
The two-tiered, wood-framed Serving Cart makes a statement with Courtly Check enamel, richly-stained rattan weaving, and leather and brass details. The hand-painted wheels feature Courtly Check enamel hubcaps. Place it in the room as a decorative, but functional, accent or wheel it out to the garden for an afternoon tea party.
The collection also features the most handsome Hamper – a difficult item to find -- that will stand tall in any dressing room, bath room or pool house. Lined with cotton fabric and featuring an easy, snap-in laundry sack, this piece features a Courtly Check enamel top with leather and brass accents. It’s perfect for beach towels or could even serve as a side table in a beach cottage.
In the U.S., shoppers can purchase these MacKenzie-Childs creations in their retail stores in New York City, Palm Beach, and Aurora, New York; through www.MacKenzie-Childs.com and the Mackenzie-Childs catalog; and at home furnishings retailers in the U.S., including Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, which are listed on the company's web site www.MacKenzie-Childs.com, and at Harrod’s in London, England.
