Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

If you’re like us, you’ve been thinking about 2021 for quite some time. We’ve just experienced the most remarkable year, filled with life-changing challenges. But as much as we’re ready to put 2020 behind us, let’s take a moment to look back through the lens of the year’s blogs and reflect on what helped us get through it all and even taught us a few things along the way.

First and foremost, helping people in our community allowed us to use our creative talents in new ways. We made and donated 500 masks per week for the Aurora and Cayuga County communities, specifically for first responders and our own warehouse staff. That spirit of giving continued and later in the year, thanks to the generosity of our customers, we donated $20,000 of our sales on Giving Tuesday, December 1, to two charitable causes: Food Bank of Central New York and Black Artists + Designers Guild.

Not at all surprising, we were also reminded that art heals the soul, whether it was creating a whimsical Mad Hatter’s Hat or an umbrella that opened our imaginations. Who better to bring us back to our creative consciousness than our own incredibly talented associates, as well as the inspirational women on our staff?

Though the Barn Sale didn’t happen in person this year, we saw from you that this community is still—and always will be—strong, committed, and supportive, together or apart.

We offered a glimpse of our creative process and explored the evolution of our semiannual collections from inspiration to launch, and went behind the scenes to reveal the magic of painting gold lustre on our ceramics.

It was a time to celebrate our classics and our heritage. We literally smelled the roses and talked about our longstanding love for floral patterns, past and present. We toasted the 25th birthday of our signature pattern, Courtly Check, and found ways to salute summer in an all-star combination of Red, White, and Royal Check.

So there, you have it—MC in 2020. If you want to celebrate the end of this year, here you’ll find a few ideas to usher it out with flair worthy of an Oscar-style celebration. We won’t tell anyone if you skip the black tie and party the same way that you dressed for much of the year—in your favorite sweatpants.

And finally, we wish you all the best in 2021. May it be a year filled with hope, happiness, and good health for everyone!
