Skip the Line winners connect
July 26, 2018
Another Barn Sale has come and gone, and we’re so happy that thousands found their way to the event. There’s a real sense of community at our Barn Sale. Every year, friendships are formed and renewed by people from places near and far who are brought together by their love of our brand.
The 2018 Barn Sale has prompted another group to form. Winners of our Skip the Line contest are connecting at the Barn Sale and on Instagram.
Skip the Line is an opportunity to get into the Barn Sale without standing in line. Entrants submit posts in seven categories that range from Barn Sale Style to Christmas in July and there is one winner in each category. In addition to skipping the line, winners receive a special parking space and a few MacKenzie-Childs goodies.
Skip the line started in 2016 and entries have steadily grown, and, in fact, nearly doubled from 1,000 #skipthelinemc tags in 2017 to 1,900 posts in 2018.
Now, using the hashtag #skipthelinemcalumni, previous winners are connecting and sharing their photos online. Colleen Hathaway (@colleenluvswine) of Seneca Falls, New York, started the alumni hashtag. She won in 2017 for an entry celebrating MacKenzie-Childs at her wedding. Since then, she and fellow 2017 winners, including Susan Grelick (@susangrelick) of Amherst, New York, and Cynthia Williams (@uniquelyrich) of New Orleans, La., have been following each other on Instagram and reconnected at this year’s sale.
“So now we are an informal super fan group,” says Colleen. “I hope to connect with the 2016 winners and next year will welcome the 2018 winners to our proud group to support M-C, the contest, each other, and most importantly to never forget that for one moment, we skipped that line!’’
