MacKenzie-Childs Launches its Most Extensive Luxury Holiday Line Ever & Magical Holiday Environment in its Flagship Manhattan Store

New York, New York, September 1, 2010 –The designers and artisans at MacKenzie Childs have been hard at work creating a broad assortment of delightfully unique luxury holiday items. The complete collection will launch in the flagship store on West 57th Street on November 11, 2010.

Magic in Manhattan Beginning on November 11th through December 31st, 2010, the 5,500 square foot MacKenzie-Childs store located in the heart of the holiday shopping district on West 57th Street between Fifth & Sixth Avenues will be transformed into a luxurious holiday extravaganza with beautiful products for every room in your home.

The MacKenzie-Childs holiday story begins in the Winter Escape Dining Room, inspired by the Aurora, New York studio and its surrounding woodlands. The newly designed, multi-layered Diorama Table ($30,000) will be featured in the center of the room. Layers of hand-painted landscape murals framed in cherry wood trim complete this masterpiece. The table is set for a perfect holiday dinner with a beautiful combination of handcrafted Trapeze and Courtly Check ® ceramic dinnerware.

A stunning hand hewn fireplace has been created for the room from layers of cedar florets and mingled with branches cut from the company’s Aurora farm. The MacKenzie-Childs new Parchment Check Deer Head ($9,500) hangs over the mantle and is adorned with a lavish wreath embellished with hand painted leaves, flowers, pheasant feathers, sugared twigs and golden acorns.

Spice up your mantelpiece with some of the most inventive nutcrackers you’ll ever see. Every year, MacKenzie-Childs introduces a new whimsical figure to the collection, and this year the third addition to the family is The Gardner ($350). He is hand-carved, surrounded by butterflies and sports a flower pot on top of his head, and will be joining the Barn Yard ($350) and Piccadilly Chef ($350) nutcrackers.

Next stop is the Baker’s Suite room; filled with Piccadilly bakeware, cooking and baking treats, and a cascade of Piccadilly ornaments including the Piccadilly Chef Rolling Pin, and Cake Stand ($48- $88). Hanging in the windows are the new Putty Shard Wreaths ($795) made by hand from broken ceramic pieces, no two are ever alike.

The new Courtly Check Candy Cottage ® ($9,500) is a true work of art that will make a breathtaking holiday centerpiece. Inspired by the gingerbread houses that have delighted children of all ages, this ‘sweet’ estate features beautiful glass candies adorning the rooftop, hundreds of majolica putty shards, delightful gingerbread trim and a variety of whimsical colors.

The final stop in the MacKenzie-Childs magical journey is the Home & Hearth environment. Filled with unique MacKenzie-Childs holiday décor items such as the magnificent 9 foot tall Putty Shard Tree ($50,000), the hand carved Thistle Dining Table ($2,500), the new Side Chair ($1,950), and the new hand sewn stockings and ornaments complete this traditional holiday setting with a twist.

For a truly spectacular holiday statement, an antique cutter sleigh has been completely refurbished with custom MacKenzie-Childs tartan upholstery, hand-painting and gold leaf, combined with floral decals and a cedar rosette floor.
